Our Mission

Purpose: Occupy Vacancy is a St. Louis based art collective established through a shared history and a passion for telling the story of our city. Occupy Vacancy regenerates and reimagines the physical landscape of St. Louis City through artistic intervention.

Vision: The objective of Occupy Vacancy is to create public art sites that celebrate and honor the cultural and architectural heritage of North St. Louis. Through the presentation of recontextualized architectural forms on vacant lots, Occupy Vacancy contributes to the contemporary discourse of public art, architecture, and development.

Values: We use sculpture to reflect upon race, settlement, and historic preservation on St. Louis’s Northside. Occupy Vacancy advances hidden narratives through the telling of Black stories through the medium of architecture and public art. Occupy Vacancy continues in the St. Louis tradition of accessibility to art and culture. The site are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
